FabricPath Control Plane
Cisco FabricPath uses a single control plane that functions for unicast, broadcast, and multicast packets by leveraging the Layer 2 Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS) Protocol. There is no need to run STP within the FabricPath network. The Cisco FabricPath Layer 2 IS-IS is a separate process from Layer 3 IS-IS. FabricPath IS-IS provides the following benefits:
