Spanning-Tree Port Types

Cisco NX-OS provides three basic switch port types to ease in configuration. These port types bundle in extensions or features that are commonly configured on a particular type of interface:

Network ports: Network ports define connections between two bridges or switches. By default, a feature called Bridge Assurance is enabled on these ports.

Normal ports: A switchport is a normal port in respect to spanning tree and has no added configuration. These ports operate in standard bridging mode.
