Cisco Hardware

Cisco routers consist of many hardware components. The main components of a Cisco router include the following:

  • RAM

  • NVRAM

  • Flash

  • CPU

  • ROM

  • Configuration registers

  • Interfaces

Figure 4-1 illustrates the hardware components on Cisco routers.
