Configuring TCP Performance Parameters

Tuning certain parameters on your router can help TCP performance in your network. You can use the following options to tune your IP performance:

  • Compressing TCP packet headers

  • Setting the TCP connection attempt time

  • Using TCP path MTU discovery

  • Using TCP selective acknowledgments

  • Using TCP time stamps

  • Using the TCP maximum read size

  • Setting the TCP window size

  • Setting the TCP outbound queue size

The next sections describe each of these options in more detail.
