Catastrophe project: A disastrous software development project that is completely out of control in one or more of the following aspects: schedule, budget, or quality.
Disentanglement: The act of producing an agreed-upon plan that will enable the successful completion of a catastrophe project.
Project evaluator: An experienced software professional, external to the development organization, who is assigned the task of leading the disentanglement process in order to get a catastrophe project back on track.
Initiating manager: The senior manager who initiates the disentanglement process for a catastrophe project.
