The Rs. 1,666 crore Philips India has currently a sales turnover of Rs. 45 crore in radios and a market share value of about 58.3 per cent in November 2001. The market share has registered a growth of 13.6 per cent over the previous year. In the FM radio segment, it sells over one lakh units of FM radios per month. Mr. Rajeev Karwal, Vice-President (Consumer Electronics) says; “We aim at moving to Rs. 60 crore in sales turnover of radios by 2003-end.

BATTERY FREE RADIO

In a bid to trigger brand penetration in the rural markets for the audio segment, the company is planning to launch a new range of battery free radio across the nation. It runs on a small dynamo that has to be charged by a winding key.
