There was utter chaos on the roads in the city of Kolhapur, a prominent historic place and a major city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The Rickshaw Drivers Association (RDA) in the city had called an indefinite strike with immediate effect to protest against the decision of Kolhapur Municipal Transport (KMT) to increase the number of routes in the city for its buses and also to introduce semi-luxury minibuses in the interior locations of Kolhapur to attract passengers towards KMT services.
