Draper Was a Sellout

Mozart, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Weezer, Katy Perry; all sellouts. Ansel Adams, Martin Scorcese, J.K. Rowling, name an icon...sellout. In fact the highest order of the creative elite are all sellouts because somebody somewhere paid them for their creativity.

The term “sellout” is historically relegated to diatribes about a person or group of people who have given up what they love and are now controlled by “the man.” But look at the world from a different perspective and you’ll see that all these creative geniuses have really just been paid to do the thing they love, every day, and become better and better at it by trial, error, and practice. So is that selling out? Or is it what true creativity is all about?
