Know Your Audience

If you went into advertising thinking that the only audience you had to worry about was the one on the other end of the television, then get out your pencil and prepare to take a LOT of notes.

Subordinates, peers, and people considered more senior than you. Everyone is jockeying for position. Somehow, somewhere, and with someone. This positioning is not a bad thing. It‘s just human behavior and even though you might be perfectly happy in your position right now, understanding the environment in your workplace and the various audiences you will be speaking to will serve you better than most of the career advice you'll ever get.
