Demonstrate your value by making the materials you send appealing and useful. Send an article you think might be of interest, or one that mentions the decisionmaker or you. Go one step further—write an article about a subject associated with the decision-maker, get it published somewhere, and send that along. Or just send a copy of the unpublished article.
