MAKE YOUR COMMUNICATIONS INTERESTING AND USEFUL

Demonstrate your value by making the materials you send appealing and useful. Send an article you think might be of interest, or one that mentions the decisionmaker or you. Go one step further—write an article about a subject associated with the decision-maker, get it published somewhere, and send that along. Or just send a copy of the unpublished article. Here are some other ideas:

  Do a little research, and dig up a useful piece of information to share.

  Paint a picture.

  Put together a spreadsheet.

  Send charts and graphs.

  Send a ten-minute infomercial.

  Direct the decision-maker to your personal homepage.

  Create a new logo for the person’s business, or a prototype of ...
