There are many options for each of these steps due to differences in hardware and software. Because this is a field guide I mention just some of them. Also everything you need to download, edit, and output is included with your camera. All you need is a printer and a computer.

Downloading

Getting your images off your camera is the first step in using your images. Although you could just keep buying memory cards, at some point you'll want to get your images to a computer to edit, e-mail, or print them.

Downloading from the camera

The cameras also come with a USB cable to connect the camera to your computer. Most Macs and PCs have a USB connection.

Tip

The USB cable is fairly standard. If you lose yours, you can purchase a replacement from any store that has a good selection of computer cables. The connector that plugs into the camera is called a mini-B USB 2.0 connector.
