You have already seen several references in this book regarding the importance of good-quality optics with high-resolution Canon dSLR cameras. It stands to reason that the more sensitive your capture device is, the more important it is to have top-quality lenses to deliver information to that device. I have seen more than one student purchase one of the higher-end Canon cameras and then a lesser-quality lens because of a shortage of funds. A Digital Rebel XTi with a top-notch Canon L-series lens, as shown in 3-1, produces a notably better image than a Mark III with a cheap aftermarket lens. There's a reason lenses are the backbone of your camera system.
