Poring Over the Picture

This photo of the Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park is one of my favorite examples of using a vertical orientation to increase the perceived depth of an image. While many photographers might choose to use horizontal framing, the creative use of a vertical composition can help add depth to your image when you use a foreground element.
