Introduction

Welcome. The fact that you’re reading this book means you’ve either just bought a Canon camera and want more information than the instruction book can give you (no surprise there) or that you’re thinking of getting into the system and want to know more about it.

As a professional photographer with a couple of million frames under his belt, my decision to give up another manufacturer’s system for Canon was not one that was undertaken lightly. Well, actually, it was. I tried Canon’s D30 some years ago and knew I was holding my future in my hands. I put my name in the hopper for a D60, moved from there to the 1Ds, and have been progressing ever since.

I’ve never regretted that decision.
