The monitoring of VMware or any other kind of virtualization server is as important as the guests running on it. Unlike normal systems, performance problems on the virtualization hosts will affect many more systems and applications. Therefore, knowing the current, past, and possible future state of the hosts' performance is of great importance.
Set up SNMP access for VMware ESXi 4
In order to set up SNMP access on a VMware ESXi server, you'll need to have the vSphere CLI client installed. The client can be obtained free of charge from www.vmware.com. Let's assume you've already downloaded and installed the CLI client on a Windows system.
