Young People Succeeding Early

There is yet another category—besides entrepreneurs and small investors—who became road kill after the Internet bubble: young people who'd gone to work for the dot-coms.

During the Internet bubble young professionals had a lot of fun, and some of them made a lot of money—at least for a while. Both of these accomplishments were deeply resented by others.

Among those most unhappy about it were, ironically, the banks and venture firms which were creating the bubble. During its peak, firms that ordinarily employ lots of young professionals—banks, venture firms, and consulting companies—found themselves losing these people to the dot-coms.
