PREFACE

The seventh edition of Business Statistics for Contemporary Decision Making continues the tradition of presenting and explaining the wonders of business statistics through the use of clear, complete, student-friendly pedagogy. With the seventh edition, the author and Wiley have expanded the vast ancillary resources available through WileyPLUS with which to complement the text in helping instructors effectively deliver this subject matter and in assisting students in their learning. With the seventh edition, WileyPLUS has been significantly updated to allow instructors far greater latitude in developing and delivering their course than ever before.

In this edition, several changes have been made in an effort to improve the delivery and completeness of the text. Two new chapter sections have been added, including a new section in Chapter 1 entitled Variables and Data, and a new section in Chapter 14 on Logistic Regression. In Variables and Data, students are introduced to the concepts of variable, measurement, and data to help prepare them for studying levels of data measurement and to help them attain an introductory understanding of what is a variable. Logistic regression was added to the seventh edition because of its growing importance and use in business statistics.
