4.1 That which we call a rule

We now have a good idea of what business rules might look like and their underlying logic. The problem we tackle in this chapter is how to spot a rule, or, to be more accurate, how to position our focus at the right distance.

At one extreme, it“s possible to see rules everywhere. In principle, a complete business description can be produced by using nothing but rule statements—plus, of course, their related facts. Although the result might be completely accurate, it“s not a very practical approach to analysis.
