Summary Reports
Just because your project is completed doesn’t mean your work is done. If you are writing a report for your supervisor, you need to make sure you get credit for your accomplishments and that you state that you took appropriate actions along the way. If you are directing your comments to a client, your goal is to get repeat business and referrals by explaining that any cost overruns were necessary.
 
Remember that your summary report is important; it is not a throwaway. Rather, it gives you a chance to make a good first impression and sets the tone for the full report to come. A summary that is well-structured and coherent tells reviewers that the subsequent full report will be worth reading as well.
