Former President (and D-Day mastermind) Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.”

When he gave this definition of leadership, the concept of employee engagement hadn’t yet been coined. The more elementary idea of employee commitment hadn’t been fully explored yet either.
