When we look at an organization we know we will see many processes operating — strictly, many process instances. We also know that these processes do not operate entirely separately from one another; in particular two processes will occasionally interact in some way. For instance, a company might have an annual budget-setting process in which it reviews the portfolio of projects and decides on the budget for each in the coming year.
