Overall Tricks and Traps for the Vision Phase

At this point, everyone is excited and wants to get going, but often they start by solving the wrong problem or providing the wrong solution. They don’t take the time to get it right. The Vision phase is the time to get it right. If you can’t spend some time on the activities in this phase, you will spend 10 times that amount of time later dealing with things that don’t fit, a lack of support, resource mismatch, and other problems.

Be realistic. Don’t ignore the real time available for planning change. An organization in crisis can’t afford to study things to death. It must act. Also, an organization in the forefront should never stop taking time to understand how to keep ahead.
