Closing Project Management Guidelines

I have to thank an early mentor, Michael Howe of Oakville, Ontario, for the wealth of knowledge that I’ve built in project management. Many of the baseline concepts described in this chapter can be found in his teachings. They have stood the test of time. The main things that Mike taught me were to appreciate the importance of relationships, to trust my instincts, and to use common sense. I learned from him that to be successful with complex initiatives, such as process management, the practitioner can’t rely on great methodologies alone.
