The Morningstar Packing Company in California is a very focused organization that manufactures tomato paste and related products. I have included it as an example of a very mature and innovative organization that handles its staff in a remarkably simple way. Nowhere have I seen an organization with such a high degree of employee—or “colleague,” as Morningstar calls them—empowerment and such a strong alignment to business process outcomes.
