Using prompts as object selectors

We can use prompts to ask the user for attribute elements, but we can also ask the user to decide which objects he/she wants on the report template. How do we do? With a special type of prompt called object prompt.

The steps are similar to the previous recipe, but this time the users choose how to build the report.

Getting ready

You need to have completed the previous recipes to continue.

How to do it...

Go to the Public Objects | Prompts folder:

  1. Create a new prompt.
  2. In Prompt Generation Wizard, select the second radio button Object Prompt, click on Next.
  3. With the first option Use a pre-defined list of objects selected click on Add….
  4. From Schema Objects | Attributes, pick Product, Product Subcategory, Product Category ...
