arrow Exploring customer-related objectives

arrow Identifying employee-related objectives

arrow Setting benchmarks

Tempting as it may be to slap a game on your company’s Web site and call it a day, gamifying your business is, unfortunately, a bit more complicated. The fact is, in order for your gamification efforts to be successful, you must first identify what, exactly, you want to achieve. In other words, you must pinpoint your business objectives.

Every business has a unique set of short-term goals and long-term objectives. For example, maybe you want to increase customer engagement. Perhaps you want to build a community around your Web site. Or maybe you want to improve employee performance. Once you’ve identified what you want to achieve, you can design a game that helps you achieve it.

In this chapter, you’ll see examples of various business objectives and discover the importance of setting benchmarks for meeting those objectives.
