PMO Tools: Establishing a PMO Architecture vs Implementing a Tool
Many organizations experience difficulties implementing the tools needed by the project management office (PMO). Figure 5.1 illustrates that there is never a shortage of vendors eager to sell their products. Nor is there a shortage of consultants anxious to provide implementation services or market analysts ready to provide their fee-based analysis and commentary. But at the end of the day, it is up to the PMO to select the tools that it needs. It is up to the PMO to rationalize how the various PMO tools all work together and to explain how they are to be used.
