Display Sensitivity

Any disruption is bad for your company, but it can affect other people as well. Be sensitive to people’s misfortunes when circulating information about the incident – the fire may have lost you a warehouse of stock and yet completely burnt down the factory next door, injuring several employees. Releasing statements complaining about how much the incident inconveniences you when people have been seriously injured next door is insensitive to say the least.

remember.eps Acknowledge the effects on the local community, and remember that people are more important than premises and goods. Accept responsibility if appropriate and offer condolences rather than lament over the impact on your own business.
