Educate Your Staff in IT
You’re wasting effort in maintaining the security of your IT system if your staff don’t know how to use it safely and keep it secure. Make sure that all employees who use the system understand the dangers of opening spam emails and the like, and of downloading applications that they don’t recognise.
Nominate the most IT-friendly of your staff to give a lunchtime workshop to others who aren’t so knowledgeable, and encourage all employees to take some element of responsibility for the safety of their computers and the system. For example, ensure that staff delete all data on previous clients properly. Remind people that moving documents from the desktop to the recycle bin doesn’t permanently delete information, and that a computer thief can still access such files.
