27. Technology Forecasting

Technology Forecasting informs better decisions and plans by systematically providing information about the characteristics, direction, nature, and rate of technology changes. It uses logical processes to generate explicit information to help industry and government anticipate practical, ecological, political, and social consequences of developments in technology. In government, this information is used to inform policy. In industry, the information can be used to inform inventions, suggest strategic improvements to or replacements of products or processes, describe characteristics and frequency of usage, and predict changes in markets. Smaller companies may depend on this information for their existence!
