Summary
This chapter has focused on Microsoft Access as the database program used in examples of database queries and of DAO. That is because Excel and Access work very well together. For example, you can take VBA code that you have developed and written in an Excel workbook, copy it into a module in an Access database, and execute the code in that context with very few changes—quite possibly none at all.
But don't let that kind of smooth interaction cause you to forget that you can use the techniques developed in this chapter with databases other than Access. The examples of queries and of using DAO apply equally to any ODBC-compliant database, and there are many such in use in business, scientific, educational, and other institutions.
