There is no shortage of people in the world who think you should do graphic design work for free. After all, it is only time that is being spent to design things, and you are having fun while you do it. It doesn’t really “cost” anything, right?

Most designers have pro bono work going on nearly all the time. There is always their brother’s logo or their uncle’s website under heavy construction. Each of those pro bono jobs seems to lead to referrals for more pro bono jobs. I certainly have done my share of free design work, and my company seems to have a steady stream of charitable organizations requesting our services.
