64. “Forgiveness” Points

With every new job, new boss, new client, or new project, you have one goal and one goal only: to build up “forgiveness points.” The graphic design industry is filled with craziness. A myriad of variables will inevitably cause a project to blow up at some point in your career. A typo may get printed. Perhaps a server will get hacked and disable a website you created. Maybe you or someone on your team will miss an important deadline. At some point in the lifecycle of your business relationship with a client or company, something will go awry and the project will come to a screaming halt.
