57. Big Brother

About a year into my career, fresh out of school, I was on a conference call with a client. From my direct marketing agency, it was two team members and me speaking with the client. We were building a website and creating various other marketing materials for them, and they were having difficulty grasping our explanation of the project. We became increasingly frustrated due to their ignorance, and when the call ended we hung up the phone and began a rant about this client’s apparent idiocy. Then I glanced down at the phone and realized that the light was indicating the line was still active. I broke out into a cold sweat and quickly tapped the disconnect button about a dozen times.
