21. Everyone Does Something Better Than You

In my early twenties, I spent some time living in the northern coastal cities of Colombia. Part of my soul longs to be there still, as I made some amazing friends and fell in love with the culture. My experience there was also filled with unique and deeply meaningful life lessons. One of those lessons was taught to me by a dear friend from Bogotá.

My friend and I were chatting one day, and I was discussing some of the challenges I had with the personality quirks of a mutual acquaintance. Human nature makes it easy for us to notice the flaws in others. This practice breeds negativity and inhibits teamwork, two things that can critically influence success in the field of graphic design.
