This book has been a very long journey for me. I started it in September 2010, the same month I started on the Visual Studio 2012 team working on the end-to-end Windows 8 story for JavaScript programmers. I sat down the hall from Chris Anderson, Josh Williams, Chris Tavares, Jeff Fisher, David Owens, Vijaye Raji, Andy Sterland, Anson Horton, and Michael Booth, who comprised the bulk of the WinJS team and a big chunk of the Visual Studio 2012 team working on JavaScript for Win8 apps.
