4. Typography

In Chapter 3, “Layout,” we discussed how to create rich and flexible layouts for Windows Store apps using CSS and WinJS. This chapter and the next will cover media and its various uses on the platform. We’ll start with a discussion of typography—the most often used form of media on the Web. Specifically, we’ll talk about typography in software and the evolution of the web technologies that make up our Windows Store apps. We’ll then discuss CSS Web Fonts, and the role this technology plays in enabling custom typography in our own apps.
