Accessing XML Web Services
XML Web services are increasing in popularity. They travel over the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) via HTTP and HTTPS. This method of transport allows server administrators and Web developers to create complex code on their own end that can be leveraged by disparate Web sites. SOAP data sources can consume parameters in their methods and return complex results in XML format. Each SOAP method is described by using the Web Services Description Language (WSDL), which tells the consumer of that Web service what parameters to supply in order to get valid results.
