Chapter 3. Installing OpenSIPS

In the previous chapter, you learned about SIP and OpenSIPS. Now, it is time for some hands-on experience. The installation is just the beginning of the work. It is very important to install OpenSIPS correctly from the source code or packages. You can install it much faster using the apt-get utility. However, the installation from the source code is more flexible allowing you to select the modules that will be compiled. This is why we won't use any shortcuts for the installation. We will use Debian for this book because it is the distribution that we are used to. You can safely use other distributions such as CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat, and SUSE, just to mention the most popular ones.
