Let's build our own glider drone

In this section we will build our own glider. Before going any further, let's see what the requirements are.

Firstly, we need to select a design for the glider. There are a number of designs you can choose. Depending on the wing shape, there are four types of gliders:

  • Elliptical wing
  • Rectangular wing
  • Tapered wing
  • Swept-forward wing

In this chapter, we are going to choose the rectangle-shaped wing. The other necessary equipment is as follows:

  • Propellers
  • ESCs
  • Motors
  • Battery
  • ArduPilot
  • Servos
  • RC receiver and transmitter
  • Some carbon fiber tubes
  • Some steel wires
  • Some nylon pushrods
