Dear Colleagues,

Last week I wrote about how the course of aviation history in Singapore was favourably changed when the government decided to move to Changi from Paya Lebar. It is a story of the long-term vision of our former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, his courage to push the decision, the faith in the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) and the Public Works Department (PWD), the leadership and guidance from experienced top civil servants like Howe Yoon Chong (HYC) and Sim Kee Boon (SKB), and the commitment of our engineers and architects to build what they had never experienced before.

But what transpired during those challenging six years of building Singapore's national airport project? What were the lessons learnt? Let me recall some personal reflections here, as it may be useful for us as we move forward with building Changi 2, “another national project”.
