Downloading and Installing the XSQL Servlet

This section describes in detail how to obtain and install the XSQL Servlet.

Obtaining the XSQL Servlet Software from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN)

You can download the XSQL Servlet distribution by following these steps:

  1. Visit http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/xsql_servlet/.

  2. Click on the Software icon at the top of the page.

  3. Log in with your OTN username and password; registration is free if you do not already have an account.

  4. Select whether you want the Windows NT or Unix download; both contain the same files.

  5. Acknowledge the licensing agreement and download the survey.

  6. Click on xsqlservlet_v1_0_0_0.tar.gz or xsqlservlet_v1_0_0_0.zip. Note that if a later version is available, the filenames will reflect the later version number.

Extracting the Files in the Distribution

To extract the contents of the XSQL Servlet distribution, do the following:

  1. Choose a directory under which you would like the .\xsql directory and subdirectories to go (e.g., C:\).

  2. Change directory to C:\, then extract the downloaded XSQL archive file. For example, on Unix:

    tar xvfz xsqlservlet_v1_0_0_0.tar.gz

    or on Windows:

    pkzip25 -extract -directories xsqlservlet_v1_0_0_0.zip

    using the pkzip25 (see http://www.pkware.com/shareware/pkzip_cli.html) command-line tool or the WinZip (see http://www.winzip.com) visual archive extraction tool.
