Measuring Results

Formal measurement of both business results and learning (that is, people's development) provides evidence of significant benefits to the individual and the organization. Some of the key benefits of a results-oriented approach include:

  • demonstrating that the program delivers business results (for example, cost reduction, client satisfaction, quality improvement, and so forth)

  • gaining commitment and sponsorship initially and for the long term from key business leaders by frequently communicating results

  • determining the cost-benefit ratio to justify the cost and demonstrate return-on-investment (ROI)
