Creating a remote repository

There are many ways to host a remote repository. You can set up your own server, or you can use a hosted service such as Bitbucket or GitHub. We are going to use GitHub as it is the most popular, and is free for public repositories.

If you'd like to keep your repository private, you can either pay for a personal plan from GitHub, which is currently set at $7 per month; or you can use BitBucket, which is free for both public and private repositories (although other limits apply).

1. Go to https://github.com/ and click on the Sign Up button
2. Fill in your details to create an account
3. Once logged in, click on the New Repository button or go to https://github.com/new
