A Technical Overview of Business-to-Consumer e-Commerce

As stated earlier, business-to-consumer (B2C) e-Commerce is simply the electronic exchange of goods and services from businesses to consumers. From a technical perspective, B2C sites require a catalog, shopping cart, and payment processing mechanism, at a minimum. More typically, though, B2C e-Commerce sites encompass a wide range of advanced, value-added features. Many of these advanced features will be more fully discussed in their own chapters later in the book. For now, here's a brief overview of many of the features that shoppers are likely to find on a typical site.
