Document Conversions

At the conclusion of any end-to-end content type process, it might be a requirement that certain users access documents in the browser, without needing the Office Word 2007 client and without having the ability to edit the site column data. Document conversions offer the ability to create read-only Web pages from content type documents.

When configuring conversions for a content type, you can specify the layout for new pages, similar to how layouts are defined when creating new pages at the SharePoint site collection or site level. You can also set the default location for converted pages and indicate whether pages should be created one at a time or in the background.
