The primary reason for cloud users to access the cloud is to consume services. In an IaaS cloud, this means requesting and relinquishing infrastructure resources in a self-service fashion. In its simplest form, this could be requests for machines with preconfigured storage and network or direct requests for storage resources. A more sophisticated version of the same is a request for a set of machines with a preinstalled and preconfigured application environment.
