The Cloud Buzz
In October 2009, IDC released its “IT Cloud Services Forecast: 2009-2013” (http://blogs.idc.com/ie/?p=543), which estimated that of the approximately $400 billion customers would spend on IT in 2009, $17.4 billion would be consumed as cloud services. It also estimated that by 2013, customer spending on IT cloud services would grow almost threefold, to $44 billion. With an estimated five-year annual growth rate of 26 percent—over six times the rate of traditional IT offerings—the growth rate for cloud computing remains strong.
