Cloud computing in not new to Oracle. Oracle was one of the pioneers of SaaS and has a number of SaaS offerings today in the form of Oracle On Demand services. And though it might appear that Oracle’s presence in the PaaS and IaaS space is somewhat new based on its product offerings, Oracle has been a leader in many of the technologies, such as grid computing and virtualization, that form the foundation for PaaS and IaaS.
