Chapter 15. Examining Affiliate Programs

In This Chapter

  • Understanding payment plans

  • Finding the right match

  • Making a profit

  • Acquiring affiliates

Whatever you call them — affiliates, associates, independent agents — businesses that operate on the World Wide Web have turned in a big way to letting other people do their advertising for them. Why should you care? Because you can make money at it. They don’t just want you to plug their stuff; they’re willing to cut you in on a piece of the action.

Zillions of companies are jumping on the affiliate bandwagon, where you sell another company’s products and services for a slice of the pie. Companies from one end of the Web to the other are lining up to ask you to make your Web site their billboard. And the good news is that they don’t want any of your money.

Table 15-1 lists a few major companies with affiliate programs.
